Peter Wanat, game designer behind Scarface, Chronicles of Riddick, and the upcoming Wanted: Weapons of Fate, recently spoke out on GameTrailer's Invisible Walls. about designing Wii games in comparison to the 360 and PS3.  Wanat said it was incredibly hard to make a profit on the Wii, and that only Nintendo and UbiSoft, with their Petz line up, can make a profit on the Wii.  If developers spend more than $300-$500K on Wii development, they will not see any returns because of how bad 3rd party Wii games sell.  Wii players are "little kids and old people" and "hardcore Nintendo fanboys" that enjoy games with "crappy graphics and basic control play".

Wanat explains that because PS3/XBox 360/PC games can all share platforms, profits lie there, as not only is it all contained in one development cycle, but the user base of those consoles are hardcore gamers who are more willing to buy games.  In order to develop a Wii port of game with the other 3 platforms, it needs to be designed as "less than a PS2 game".  Wanat even went on to say the Wii was comparable to a "****ing [Sega] Genesis" compared to the PS3/360.
