Activision Blizzard has just released the financial results for their second quarter for the current fiscal year. Despite Bobby Kotick's comments about the PlayStation 3 platform, it has created quite a lot of revenue for Actvision.
In the three months ending June 30 2009, MMORPGs were the highest earning platform bringing in $324 million, followed by the Xbox 360 bringing in $231 million, followed by the PS3 bringing in $152 million. The Wii brought in $118 million, DS $48 million, PS2 $44 million, PC & Other $41 million, with PSP bringing up the rear with $17 million of revenue.
Despite the low revenue for some of the formats, it is worth mentioning that the amount of products released on some formats is more than on others. But still, the PS3 still brought in a significant amount of revenue for Activision, showing that not only will they NOT stop supporting the PS3, but they can't afford to as a multiplatform publisher.
Total net revenue for the quarter exceeded $1 billion. |
