Mozilla Responds To Firefox PS3 Rumors
Posted on November 20, 2009 by Shak

I'm sure many of you have heard by now that Mozilla are apparently in talks with Sony to bring Firefox to the PS3. Well instead of spreading this, we thought we'd contact Mozilla first to find out whether there was any truth to this rumor.

They replied with the following:

"Nope - not sure how that rumor got started but it's been keeping us busy all day :)"

So it turns out that this rumor was not true at all, and the so called "insider," has been wrong before. A previous story said a "source" claimed the following would be announced at GamesCom:

PSP Go price cut
PS3 Slim & Price cut on older models to $299
New PSN
Firmware 3.0

Considering the fact that everyone and their uncle knew about the PS3 Slim, 2 out of 4 guesses is not that impressive. Firmware 3.0 was announced at GamesCom, but again, everyone expected it. There is however no new PSN and the PSPgo did not get a price cut!

My name is dustin rudzinski... I wrote the article in question. First of all, I was contacted again by our source and had to make a correction to the article. There was no mention of firefox being ported, only that sony and mozilla had been meeting (sony could simply be seeking advice from them on their new browser). it could still be about firefox, however. how does contacting a company about an unannounced project and getting a "no" from them equal debunking a rumor? how many times did Sony say "there are no plans for a price cut" before cutting the price? it happens all the time. Also, I find it funny how you claim everyone and their mother knew ps3 slim, the price cut, and the new firmware would be announced at gamescom, yet when we posted the rumors the entire internet called us a bunch of liars. Go back and read the N4G comments on those articles... you'll see what I mean. Nobody believed us, and yet it came to pass. The PSP go was flat out wrong, i'll admit that one (though some retailers did cut the price, just not sony). The new psn supposedly got delayed and became the subscription service we're all hearing about now.
