Dragon’s Lair came out back in the 1980’s and managed to build up one heck of a fan base which to this day still is very strong. Over the course of the last 20 years the experience has been rehashed time and time again with little changes to the actual mechanics, leading up to this latest Blu-ray release bringing Dragon’s Lair into the HD realm.
The thing which is going to stand out the most here is the fact that this now 20+ year-old project looks absolutely stellar. The animations done by the legendary Don Bluth are stellar and show just how great hand-drawn animations can be when they are done right. His style to this modern-day time of computer-generated visuals is still extremely entertaining and well-done.
The way this works is that Dragon’s Lair for the Blu-ray format plays on any Blu-ray player as well as the PlayStation 3. This means that if you have a standalone Blu-ray player you can control it with a Blu-ray remote or if you have it on the PS3 you can control the action with the SIXAXIS controller.
The set-up works like a novel where you get to choose your own adventure as you go along. It is not as easy as it sounds though as the choices you make can have some dire consequences making it actually a hard experience to grasp.
