PCN's Holiday Wish List
Posted on November 9, 2008 by Dustin S.

Ah, the smell of early bird sales and freshly wrapped electronics. The holidays must be here yet again! Of course, no one does the holidays better than Sony themselves. Unlike last year, which saw a lack of games for PS3, this year is one big brawl. With so many games coming out you may find yourself short of cash before you even walk in the store.

PS3Center decided we could lend our fellow readers a helping hand and create our very own Holiday Wish List. So grab your own wish lists and lets jump into all the excitement.

First up is Resistance 2

Insomniac is back with Resistance 2, following Nathan Hale as he fights in the world's struggle against another Chimera attack. In case you don't know what Chimera are, they are the spooky looking things on the cover. The game takes place directly where Resistance: Fall of Man left off. The virus has now crossed over the sea from Europe and threatens to wipe out America. Players will travel all of the USA, playing in locations such as Chicago, San Francisco, and New York.

While players should be satisfied with the epic single player campaign, Resistance 2 brings a lot more the the table. Stand-alone eight-player, class-based online co-op campaign (with up to 8 players) and 60-player online competitive multiplayer will be featured in Resistance 2. We might as well mention the game has some of the most amazing visuals we have ever seen for both online and offline.

Resistance 2 should make any PlayStation 3 gamer happy this holiday season and is sure to be a big hit. The game comes in two versions. A Special edition, which includes a lot of nerdy collectibles, retails for $80 USD. While you may be a nerd but would like to spend less money the game also comes stand alone for $60USD. Resistance 2 is rated Mature and is in available now.

Call of Duty 5 : World at War

During the last holiday season, COD4 was one of the top selling games and many new gamers were introduced to the franchise. With the game of the year doing so well we just had to put COD5 on this years Holiday Wish List. Yes I'm basing the success of a previous game on how the new game will do, but its not entirely a bad thing is it?

Don't be expecting the modern warfare to be returning as COD5 is heading back to the franchise roots of World War 2. Yes I know, not another WW2 game right? Well don't rule this game out just yet. COD5 promises to offer the most in depth and revolutionary experience that has ever been offered in a WW2 shooter. The game will also be finishing the stories from COD3 and ending the historical WW2 campaign carried on throughout the franchise.

Lets not forget the online features. Perks, rankings, and the stats system will all be returning and will have added features to go along with them. A new 4 player co-op, new infantry soldiers, and vehicle based combat has all been added as well.

The hype for COD5 has been huge lately and this game is sure to be a hot seller this holiday season. If you are a COD4 fan or just a die hard fan buying it just for the name, this game is sure to make you happy. The game is rated Mature and will be available November 11.

I thought MGS4 was a nice touch. Haha even though it came out a while back, I agree that it may, and should be a deciding factor in purchasing a PS3. The story by itself, makes the game a perfect 10/10 for me. But when you add in all the game play and just downright fun, it would probably be a 20/10. The only thing I fear about this list though is that most of the games on there are multi-platform, which isn't always a good sign. Even though most gamers should know that everything runs and looks better on the PS3, many might look at the price of the 360 compared to the exclusive games for the consoles. I personally think that Sony will dominate this holiday season and throughout next year with big titles like LittleBigPlanet and Killzone 2, but many can still wonder what the 360 has to offer. As for the Wii, I think people are beginning to realize that that little white box's sole purpose is for gimmickry and to run shovel ware. But that is just my opinion.
