While I am reviewing one of the more controversial games on the market I would like to just acknowledge some of the complaints going on around this game. Many are saying that the game is racist to Africans and should be taken off shelves because of the racist actions by the main characters, or the racist view of Africa in general. My argument isn't “look at Resident Evil 4” instead my argument is to pick up the script to the game, or better yet, play the entire games storyline yourself. Other than the fact that Sheva is African herself, the game focuses on getting rid of a corrupt society that is located in Africa. The goal of the two characters is to save those not infected. How this is racist I don't understand. Anyone that plays the game and understands what happens will notice the game is not racist at all. Sheva even gets emotional about Afirca being destroyed by the virus at one point along with the “white” character Chris. The beginning level is really the only level that is depicting an African area, also noting its not even a real location. Capcom is in their right mind to stick behind the development of this game and if anything its a compliment to Africa to be included in such a landmark game series.
Final Words
The story is entertaining as Capcom tied in some previous storylines to get the fans excited, but failed to keep anything a secret. In the middle of the game its completely obvious whats about to happen and nothing seemed surprising anymore. The co-op feeling of the game ruined any hope for fear you might have and the daytime scenery pretty much sealed the deal, but they aimed for the fun aspect more than anything so it works. Towards the middle of the game you also end up playing Tomb Raider as you run around a hidden temple unlocking clues while zombies randomly pop out at you, its not a bad thing if your a Tomb Raider fan like myself, but others will be left wondering what the hell they are playing.
The game also doesn't offer anything more than upgrading your guns fully for replayability. The visuals are beautiful looking, the gameplay is fun as hell, and the co-op aspect is just brilliant. All of that makes up for the simple mistakes I found in the game period. The game is brilliant, but those that don't want anything other than a true horror game better go elsewhere.

Graphics
RE5 looks impressive and has its own unique feel to it. The game offers some visually impressive transformations and the cutscenes are phenomenal.

Sound
The monsters sound scary, it offers some ambient screams and noises, and the voice acting is tremendous. There are some repetitive sounds throughout the game however that get annoying.

Gameplay
The stop and shoot idea works perfectly with the game, but takes some time to get used to. There are other aspects that I think the game suffered with however.

Replay Value
Co-op is extremely fun but the game offers no competitive online modes or any real incentive other than upgrading your guns. If you’re playing alone I guarantee you won’t pick this game up again.

Overall
Play the game with friends and you will have the time of your life. The story is lacking in some areas and the exception of a true online mode kills, but overall the game is amazing and complete for what it offers.
