With Tokyo Game Show merely days away, everyone is anticipating the announcement of new games. Rumors have been flying from all corners of the internet, with whisperings that fan favorite franchises like Legend of Dragoon, Suikoden, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia, Kingdom Hearts and more may make an appearance at TGS 2009. And while we're definitely looking forward to whatever new reveals take place at the show later this week, we would also love to hear more on titles that have been announced at previous Tokyo Game Shows but have been deathly silent ever since.
First on our list is Marvelous Entertainment's Rainy Woods.
Announced at TGS 2007, this murder mystery definitely took a few pages from Silent Hill and the cult classic TV show Twin Peaks. A series of bizarre murders have occurred outside of Rainy Woods, and it's up to the fledgling FBI detective David Henning to put an end to the mystery. Featuring some rather unnerving torture scenes, a protagonist plagued by an alternate personality, and evil midgets, Rainy Woods definitely looked to be bringing something unique to the otherwise stagnant psychological thriller genre.
Since the game's announcement, Marvelous Entertainment has been deathly silent on Rainy Woods. It was originally due for release in 2008, though it's obviously missed it's target window. Marvelous has been a staunch supporter of the Wii, though with their recent fascination with the new PS3 SKU, perhaps they'll get back on track with this game.
