If you haven't already heard, there are rumors of a PSP2 being released as early as 2010. We've garnered mixed reactions from PSP fans, some saying they're glad the PSP2 is being released, and some wanting the current generation PSP to last for a little while longer. In any case, we decided to make a list of what we'd like to see in a PSP2.
- Dual Analog Sticks - Since the PSP's release, there's always been one major complaint with the system, only one analog nub. Even when the PSPgo was about to release, everyone wanted an extra analog nub. This time however, we are 100% sure Sony will include dual analog nubs in the PSP2, because everyone wants it.
- Backwards Compatibility - Sony was the first console manufacturer to include backwards compatibility in a console. So it's not too far-fetched to assume that the PSP2 will include backwards compatibility with PSP games. The problem with this is that a UMD drive will almost certainly not be included in the next PSP, so some sort of UMD converter should be included.
- An OLED screen - Sony pioneered Organic Light Emitting Diode screens for TVs, so we really would like an OLED screen on the PSP2. OLEDs create their own source of light, and therefore do not require a backlight like traditional LCD screens. They also boast a better contrast ratio and more vibrant colors than alternative types of screen. OLEDs also take very little power, meaning the PSP2 could be very thin, light and have a longer lasting battery than the original PSP. The bad news, OLEDs are expensive, the good news, Sony has already started using them in their Walkman range, so we could see an OLED screen in the PSP2. |
