PS3Center’s Top Ten Games to Remake!

Number 4 Metal Gear Solid

There is one ultimate game on Kojima’s list that has been requested to be remade more than anything in the world. Metal Gear Solid started it all, started the greatest franchise in the world, and told the best story I have ever heard. It wasn’t until after playing Metal Gear Solid 4 that I realized just how awesome the game would be with today’s technology. The game has a level that is based on Shadow Moses of MGS, while the level is chopped up and changed to extents you can still feel how great the original would be. So that’s the engine we want it running on, the MGS4 engine. The engine can’t run on the 360 so Rising will not be using it sadly, but why let it go to waste? Make something else with it, we badly want to see it being used on PS3 again.

Note that we truly do not want to see a third party studio take control of it like Twin Snakes on Gamecube…for that very reason to be exact. We want it to be as close to home as possible and Kojima is the only one capable of doing so. Maybe he can take time out of his busy schedule and throw a MGS and Snatcher remake in there?

Number 3 Snatcher

One of Hideo Kojima’s (Metal Gear) first games to ever be released, and yet it was still one of his best. For all you Metal Gear fans, like me, there are tons of easter eggs in this game for you, the little robot is even titled Metal Gear. The game isn’t too in depth as it was originally made for dated 1995 PC computers and the Sega CD, then being ported to PSX. The gameplay is menu based with options such as "Look", "Investigate", "Talk", "Ask" and "Move" among others in different scenarios.  The game takes place in first person perspective of Gillian Seed as he investigates throughout the game. Sporadic action sequences involving gun fights, or scary scenes, pop up throughout the game. However the dated technology really shows at those points as it becomes an arcade game of 3 by 3 squares and clicking on the target to shoot.

However after seeing it again and combining it with today’s technology we believe this game can be absolutely amazing. It’s Kojima so the graphics were already above average during its time, and Kojima is looking for something new to do. The fighting sequences would obviously be fixed, the investigating would be a lot smoother, and of course the text based gameplay would be removed. The engines it could run on are varied, but would probably be similar to the likes of Resident Evil 5.

Number 2 Final Fantasy 6 or 7

How many forums or game chats do we see where this game is brought up at least one time? People have been at Squares feet asking for this remake since the day they were born…well little after that day for some of us. Final Fantasy 7 was the best in the franchise to many, but some hardcore fans will go as far as Final Fantasy 6. Bother are absolutely stellar games that deserve remakes beyond the PSP. We want to see Final Fantasy 13 style graphics, gameplay, and PS3 technology supporting it all. The game is destined to be sold out for days upon release, so why isn’t Square jumping on it? Much like Vagrant Story they have hinted at the possibility, but at the same time have shut down our hopes several times as well.

Final Fantasy 7 for those that don’t know, was your basic RPG styled game for PSX. The turn based game took place mostly in Midgar but as the game progressed, more and more of the world opened up to be played in. Much like Vagrant Story, the game was somewhat based on customizing your weapons of choice, but was not nearly as in depth. So of course players would love to see the return of two of the greatest games ever made. Square I hope your listening!
