Saw: The Game, who didn't see this coming? If you don't already know, there have been 6 movies in the Saw series so far. All of them are based on the twisted Jigsaw, and the "games" he likes to set up, in order for the players to appreciate their lives. These "games" almost always involve a sacrifice in order for the character to survive, and the movies always start off with one such "game" to throw you right into the gruesome torture aspect.
I'm happy to say then, that the game starts off the same way. You'll have a short QTE sequence and will have to remove a metallic helmet, which splits the character’s head in half. This is a classic Saw torture trap, and as a fan of the movies, I'm glad they stuck quite close to them.

The game takes place between the first (the best) and second (the worst) Saw movies, and you play as Detective Tapp. Detective Tapp is a character (played by Danny Glover) in the first Saw film, who is shot and left for dead. For the game, Jigsaw is said to have patched you up, removed the bullet, and replaced it with a key; a key that almost everyone else in the insane asylum needs to survive.
The only way for Detective Tapp to survive, is to save other people that Jigsaw also kidnapped. So he's on hand, through very old TV sets, with really bad interference, to tell you what to do through his trusty puppet/doll thing. You'll also find audio tapes, like the characters in the movie do, which will explain the story further. The best thing about this game is that it captures the essence of Saw exactly, and having Jigsaw voiced by Tobin Bell definitely helps. |
