The Difference Between a Sony and Microsoft Exclusive
Posted on December 5, 2009 by Shak

Since the beginning of this generation, the argument of "exclusivity" has been thrown back and forth between PS3 and 360 fanboys alike. The PS3 fanboy argument is that if the same game is available on any other platform, it is not exclusive. The 360 fanboy argues that if a game is available on 360/PC only, it is somehow a 360 exclusive. This sheer stupidity then leads 360 fanboys to argue that a game is "Microsoft" exclusive, so they can feel like they have an exclusive.

Well I thought it was time to show the difference between a Microsoft exclusive and a Sony exclusive. Xbox fanboys always argue that Sony fanboys hide behind the PC argument, and that not everyone has a gaming PC. There is however, a major flaw to this line of argumentation, and that is the fact that a gaming PC is no longer required to play games that are on both the Xbox 360 and PC. Yes, if you want the game to look great you'll need a gaming PC, but now the cheapest PC you can buy is good enough to play all the games that are on both a 360 and PC.

Next we'll look at why PS3 fanboys "hide behind" the PC, and why they are right to do so.

wow never knew that. Personally I have both but love my ps3 more for looks, feel, and controllers. Just feels right to me. And then the whole fan boy thing about microsoft hogging money and been greedy and stupid fan boy idiotics keep me saying the 360 sucks. Like i said i own both so jokes on me cause i am paying for them lol. In other words to the companies its about money and making more money. To us gamers there is a ceartain pride and bragging rights. Its nice to feel like we own part of the game and it makes us feel important. So exclusives are more of a annoyance rather than a bragging right but oh well.

Yes you are right, it isn't exclusive if it's on another platform but let's be honest here. How many PS3 owners are going to buy Left4Dead 2 to play on the PC? All we need to do is look at a game like Bioshock. It sold well on the PC and XBOX 360. Meaning the two can co-exist and still have an exclusivity appeal to console gamers. This is why Microsoft and Sony sees this as a console exclusive. They know that by keeping the game unavailable on the competitive console it will draw attention to their own game console. The PC is a different market. Look at how many buy Modern Warfare on the PS3 yet it is available on the PC. So can we not assume most PS3 gamers don't buy PC games? Much like how games like Little Big Planet are no longer exclusive to the PS3 platform now that a PSP version is available. However the game can still draw that exclusive appeal to PS3 fans because it's still not on the XBOX 360. This isn't about fanboys either. Jack Tretton made a big deal about FFXIV being on the PS3 and how it will be on the only console in 2010. Yet the game will be on the PC.

NO. ONE. CARES. says:
LOOK AT THE PS3 FANS THINKING THAT ANYONE CARES ABOUT THEIR "EXCLUSIVES" RANT. NO. ONE. CARES. Gamers don't care that a great game is on a console or PC only. They pick up the title and enjoy it in the fashion that they deem appropriate for their experience. Multiplatform or exclusive. And GAMERS have chosen XBOX360 to game on. NO. ONE. CARES. PS3 Fans don't have a lot of "ammo" in their "arsenal" to warrant that gamers buy their precious PS3, so they created this argument to cloak the shortcomings of gaming on their BluRay Player of a gaming system. NO. ONE. CARES. The XBOX360 suffers from RROD AND it requires you to pay to play online. And is STILL deemed the best GAMING system on Earth. And it drives myopic PS3 Fans crazy. They can't believe that people will continue to buy the system over their BluRay Player even when struggling with its hardware defects. NO. ONE. CARES. The good ol' days are over. And you HATE it. You're being upstaged by a system with the highest failure rate in history. NO. ONE. CARES. The software attach rate is the highest. The Online experience is second to none. The community is strong and driven. And you can't stand it. The media doesn't care about your "struggle" and that is why this article is written. Just like the other desperate pro-PS3 articles. So enjoy your myopic article from PS3center.net (LOL) and we'll just continue to GAME. REAL gamers have already chosen their console of choice to game on this generation. The PS3 is an awesome BluRay player. Movie watching is ideal on it. Go with that. That is what PS3 is. And always will be. That is why sales are up. It's great for multimedia purposes. We're sorry that the "PS3-experience" and the lackluster titles aren't strong enough to entice the TRUE gamers to game on your console. But the only people talking about what is exclusive and what is not are the people that lost ALL OF THE MARKET SHARE FROM LAST GENERATION. Who is that? Playstation. Have fun. Oh yeah... NO. ONE. CARES.

U can say the best piece of junk on earth, that would make sense.... U sayin no once cares about the 360 problems, well I do cause I spent a lot of money into that piece of junk of gaming system, I don't give a damn about sales, attach rate, the online... I care about my money's worth..... The US market is what's keeping the 360 ahead of PS3, outside of US it doesn't.... Microsoft used the one year headstart so Sony wouldn't catch up with them, that's a good strategy, but they knew about the system's faults, the Japanese hates that system, No ff13 for Japan 360, MS relys too much in multiplatform games, the Ntal thing seems good to me, but am I gonna b playin devil may cry, or street fighter, tekken, Madden on it??? a few things about this issue: -xbox360 has some real exclusives that might make people buy the console for its own merits, like Fable 2, Gears of War2 , Halo 3 and ODST, Forza 3 and a few more -some people when presented with this info make the argument that 360/PC games are the same as PS3/PSP, they belong to one company so its exclusive, what they fail to understand is that the Sony games that have iterations on PS3 and PSP like Resistance, Little Big Planet and Motorstorm have complete separate games on PS3 and PSP, while 360 and PC games are the same game and it usually performs better on PC -no one calls exclusives to games that come out on PS3 and PC for the simple reason that there none out now, it will change next year with DC online,The Agency and FF14 but for now all Sony PS3 games are real exclusives (I might be missing some game on this but I'm sure it's irrelevant and forgotten if there's one) -on practical terms the main difference between real exclusives and "console exclusives" on the 360 is that "console exclusives" have a very high chance of eventually coming out on PS3, like Bioshock and Braid for example, and usually featuring PS3 exclusive content -never before this generation anyone called exclusive to a game that's available on more than one platform -any new PC that its sold nowadays is able to run Valve games and most 360/PC games that are out already
