The special effects are a trademark to the Call of Duty franchise and they lack absolutely nothing in this outing. The first time that you are in a battlefield and you see your enemies blown to dead limbs from an above airstrike you called, you will be amazed. The visuals with bullets flying, walls crumbling as you fire through them, bombs hitting the ground etc. all have great particle effects and look extremely realistic.
The audio aspect of Call of Duty 4 is just as impressive as the visuals. Audio is very important in a war game as it can set the tone for the entire experience. Once you are in the middle of a battle though and you hear realistic bullets whizzing by your head, bombs blowing up in front of you, and your teammates screaming at the top of their lungs for help, you will really feel like you are in the middle of the battlefield. Voice work is also extremely well-done, as is the musical score.

From a game play standpoint there is really not much to talk about for those who have not already played a Call of Duty game. Infinity Ward has kept the same tried and true method of controls, allowing gamers to either fire away or be patient and aim down the sight before letting a bullet fly. The game play will also allow you to hide behind cover, jump from cover to cover, and blast through walls.
The shooting through walls feature is something unique which adds a whole new level of depth to the game. Just hiding behind a wooden table will no longer do you any good as that table is not going to stop a piercing bullet. If you do manage to hide though and a grenade suddenly lands next to you, you can actually pick it up and throw it back at your enemy, very cool indeed. Just make sure you throw it back before it blows, and don’t forget to stand up and throw it over whatever you are hiding behind.
