There are a few different gameplay types or variations as you might. Some levels in each tournament will ask you to stand your ground within a define area for a few minutes. If you are to exit this designated area you have literally 5 seconds to get back to the safe zone otherwise bombs that are implanted within you will go off. What kind of club is this anyways? Next you have what equates to a race mode, where you are completing laps within a stage while increasing your overall time by collecting clock icons and shooting enemies so you can make it to the end.

I give it to the developers for trying something new and putting a strong emphasis on getting the highest score as possible. Initially I was finishing stages with low combos and terrible scores. Eventually I got the hang of it and was pulling off long distance head shots and stylish kills to keep my combo meter up and scores pretty high. If you’re a score whore then this is the game for you, after all you can always do better the next time round by taking a slightly different route, shooting enemies in specific orders or using a different weapons. It definitely hits that primal need most of us had when we first became gamers, getting the highest score possible. So if this is your kind of thing The Club will provide you a lot of game time.
Unfortunately there are some issues. The characters you choose have different stats with regards to stamina, speed and strength. None of which seem to really impact the gameplay I have yet to find out what purpose strength holds. Secondly the enemies aren’t very smart. Usually you’ve either have already killed them the second you’ve spotted them or they just come running at you waiting to be shot. This most likely was implemented to keep up with the combo centric nature of the game. I guess it would be quite difficult to maintain you combos and multipliers if the enemies were difficult to take down. Not that’s hard to take them out in fact the enemy locations are always the same so it makes it even easier. You shouldn’t have any trouble with The Club anyways in fact you can beat the whole game in about 5 hours. The prime reason you are going to go back and play the single player tournament at least is your need to score as many points as possible and get to the top of the leaderboards.

The other issue I have is that while you’re running through a gritty steel factory, taking down countless enemies, with your weapon is that there is a complete lack of adrenaline or intensity. It’s supposed to be a fast murderous race to the exit. Instead it turns into a light jog. A game with such a high focus on points and combos should follow the lines of something like EA SSX for example. You want to come in first place in each race and score as many points as possible and its completely absurd, over the top and incredible fun all at the same time. Windows should be breaking, things in general blowing up every second, enemies attacking you relentlessly, chaos and craziness until the stage exit. Instead you shoot an enemy with the shotgun he falls down and its time to move on to the next guy in your path. It should have been a non stop assault on your senses, visual and aural. Instead it tries to be hip and realistic, ultimately failing in both regards.
