I don't think they'll cut the price till Spring 08, but if they do in October it would be smart. I know alot of people that want a PS3 but are waiting for the price to drop before they get one.

yeah, if they dropped it to around £375 in uk, they'd have a few more sales!

They would haved to drop it to about £350 i think as some shops are already dropping it to £399 they really need to generate more interest in it with the delays and the high prices they are going to have to pull something fairly big off

well i dont care i would be mad if they dropped the price like 3 months after i got mine or something but as you say the lower the price the higher the sales.

maybe if they dropped £5, then PSP games dropped to £30 aswell, they'd have a strong position in the market!

Wouldnt it be great if they dropped it during the summer, like in may or june? Its not a good sign that games like motorstorm and def jam still arent ramping up ps3 sales much. To be honest Sony should have included the latest firmware features and the PS Home features when the console was launched. I think its a bit confusing for mainstream consumers when a console has to to roll out new features and firmware every few months.

Def Jam Sucks, where i got my PS3 has only sold 4 copies, compared to around 30 copies of RFOM, MS, RR7 Etc.

if the price does drop before christmas then thats when I'll probably get one
[only because of the holiday & my parents would buy it]

That would be great for the holiday season.Sony would make a killing

Yeah, they might sell more, but you gotta remember the profit margins. Each console sold is still a loss - they're only making money on the games sold. So they might cut console price in october (but I can't see that happening) but I really can't imagine cutting game prices yet. JMO, a price cut AFTER the holidays.

Sony are actually making a profit now, so a price drop would make sense, they'd make more profit, because they sell more at a lower price!

That's funny, I thought it was like a $300 loss per console sold

its almost even from what i've read (OPM UK) may only be on UK console though. it was never $300, it was $150 max, otherwise they would be bust by now.

well here's my source... http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/16/sony-losing-mad-loot-on-each-ps3/ there's lots of links liek this though

idk but either way if the price drops it drops & i think it makes more sense to do it for the holidays

MattZani
15-04-2007, 01:17 PM
yep, its all about sales, so just before holidays is the best.

see that's funny to me, because I would say "look, as long as the demand matches supply (and it almost definitely will, judging by the sell-outs all over during launch weeks), it'd be better to have the higher cost" - at least it'll be better for the consumer

MattZani
16-04-2007, 12:44 PM
oh, because there will be more stock, exactly what happened in UK.

Matt

I still think it'll be sold out by Christmas eve though.

MattZani
16-04-2007, 04:23 PM
nope, because supply is good.

Matt

I'll bet you on that one. There's no way I could walk into a store and find a ps3 on christmas eve.

Matt

Actually is more around 300 , I read somewhere they'd begin making money on each sold in the fall ,that would be the perfect time drop it 100 again to drive sales with all the great game coming out at that time and to help christmas sales even more.

MattZani
17-04-2007, 04:24 PM
and what i've read from an official magazine, sony aren't making as much loss as the 360 fanboys say!

Matt

lets hope not, sooner or later sony will be on top

MattZani
22-04-2007, 01:02 PM
well, with the profit they make on all there other profits, the PS3 probably just cost them a christmas party.

Matt
