No this site doesnt have a team im inviting him to join www.ps3forums.com team because its always looking for new folders and its looking to get into the top 10 of all the folding teams , and even if he doesnt join that fine because folding is folding and it will help anyways, teams just make it more interesting.

I've read little about Folding. Doesn't it have to do with pretty much donating your CPU's idling power (in this case the PS3's cell processor) to the cause of finding cures for diseases and stuff?

MattZani
02-05-2007, 02:00 PM
yes it does, and PS3 forums has no chance, the top 20 teams have been folding for atleast3 years, many with PC's running 24/7 just folding.

^^^^

You should do research before running your mouth .

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_overtake.php?s=&t=54376&p=1

It will take a long time but we are able to reach 12 of the Top 20 folders and only 2 teams outside the top 20 besides has a chance at the top 20 . Not to mention the PS3 team is getting bigger because with more ppl buying the PS3 they seam to join that forum and that gives us more of a chance at more members and not to mention ppl on that forum who dont yet own a ps3 are helping the team with there comps

this ties in to the local cooling thread, do you want to help fight global warmiing or diseases???
hard decision there

jasonbay
04-05-2007, 06:52 PM
why not both?

Sauberbmw
05-05-2007, 12:25 AM
cause local cooling shuts ur computer off to save energy while folding@home leaves it on

jasonbay
07-05-2007, 01:23 AM
why would you ever want to shut it off ? I guess im outta of that ...lol, My computre is only off for like 3 hours a day. I can try to save the planet in other ways...lol

Sauberbmw
07-05-2007, 06:05 PM

jasonbay

I'll save the world by not supporting vending machines , buying ties and maybe buying those lightbulbs that use less energy, the first 2 were proposed by the Kyota Pact , also you supporting the 1 day boycot of not buying gas on the 15th , there's tons of ppl doing it , it wont make a difference but its makes the ppl that dont have enough things to fill out a day feal better about themselves

did you know 1 ps3 has the power of 1,000 or was it 10,000 pc's and it does that amount of work on folding at home!

aceshigh113
18-06-2007, 01:48 PM

MattZani
18-06-2007, 03:13 PM
a good folding PC, using CPU AND GPU Will easily out fold a PS3, standard PC can't come close...

Mr. 33
18-06-2007, 03:57 PM
Are you sure????

MattZani
19-06-2007, 08:47 AM
yep, easily, smoke it.

get an ATI 2900XT and a Quad Core Intel Extreme Folding, And F' Me, you'll be doing around 10 - 15 units in 24 hours, compared to PS3's 3.

Mr. 33
19-06-2007, 03:20 PM
well why do we have to use folding home on ps3, why can't they just go buy a folding pc????????????

juicyjuice107
19-06-2007, 03:27 PM
it cost a hell of a lot of cash$$$$$$ you know only a retard would buy a quad core and a 2900xt just to use for folding!!?! btw the ps3 is a 9 core and its slower than a pc!?

Mr. 33
20-06-2007, 12:49 AM
well that is a good reason, but i still want results soon.....

man come on, one of the processors is redundent, only used incase one of the others fails. and the main one is just for telling the other seven waht to do...

Im special, i read the specs :D

MattZani
20-06-2007, 04:45 PM
yeah, a PC like that is around £1500, but its seriously cool...

We fold on PS3's, because its about getting it out to the mass market, only about 1o,000 people have extreme folding PC's.

Mr. 33
20-06-2007, 09:04 PM
well thats enough why don't they, send emails to them so they can do it??????............. okayyy that would be a waste of time well, how many actually use folding home, be serious not just for five mintues and cut it off

MattZani
22-06-2007, 02:21 PM
i do, and about 10 Million others do to.

i knew that and if it like that on a ps3 then a quad core is 1 proccessor telling the other 2 what to do? and 1 just working?

Mr. 33
23-06-2007, 02:44 AM
for how long???????????????

MattZani
23-06-2007, 06:45 AM
a quad core is 4 seperate CPU's doing stuff, there is a controller (not a CPU) dividing work load.

juicyjuice107
24-06-2007, 12:43 AM
how much does a quad core cost just by itself??

MattZani
24-06-2007, 10:01 AM
about £200 - £300

Mr. 33

MattZani

Sauberbmw

with every multi core system, there is always a ppu (power processing unit) and spu (secondary processing unit) to determine the power of the system, depends on how well the ppu and spu (S) work together

MattZani
06-08-2007, 06:00 AM
not neccesarilly, Dual Cores have 2 PPU's, Quad Cores are 2 Dual Cores stuck together.
