which do you guys think is the best buy?

I've played both, but I'm leaning towards CoD4 only because I'm not really big on WW2 games, but the only draw for me, in regards to World at War is that it's the latest version of CoD so that means a few things have been improved upon, such as the multiplayer.

Does anyone notice a huge difference in the multiplayer for WAW vs. CoD4?

i like both of them really.
on call of duty 5 i preffer the bigger maps but theres no real place for a sniping spot and on call of duty 4 i love the guns. so really its 50/50 for me.

heres hoping that call of duty modern warfare 2 will have bigger maps lol :D

I've since purchased COD4 and i'll just wait until COD5 (technically World at War is considered a spin-off of COD4)

CoD5 is good, but every time I play it I just want to go back and play CoD4. I'd recommend CoD4. Plus it's cheaper.

Some of you are confusing CoD4 and CoD WaW. As Joshua has mentioned, WaW is just a spinoff. CoD5 is still up for grabs, although I remember hearing somewhere that Modern Warfare 2 was in the works and its being tasked by Infinity Ward. Interesting to note that Infinity Ward and Treyarch rotate on the CoD franchise, and so Infinity Ward is back on the block now, which should let us see more modern combat.

Obviously I suggest CoD4 over World At War... How can you go back in time and use those crappy WWII guns when you've slaughtered thousands with modern weapons? Its not even fair lol. UAV, Night Vision, Helicopter Strikes what...?! So what if they have Zombie Nazis or rabid packs of horny dogs, I can play Resistance if I wanna Co-op survive inhuman scum!
