We have a report from gameplayer.com that claims naughty dog have divulged
that the duo will be returning soon to everyone's favorite black box.
I thought it only a matter of time till they showed up but should this be true,
I wonder how the naughty dog engine will translate to a more stylized
and cartoonish title.

Very interesting, I wonder if they'll be following the Insonmiac method.
With some luck PCN might be able to find out in the near future.

yeah i saw this yesterday and thought it was interesting but doesnt insomniac use the same engine for resistance and Ratchet? i mean that there tells me that it the Naughty Dog could do alot especially with how powerful it appears

PCN could pay for me to get spy on their studios...lol
I think it was somewhat obvious Jak and Daxter would return. They cant live purely off Uncharted and need something else to make them money, instead of having two new franchises just bring them back. Then do what Insomniac did, in the mix bring a third title along and hope it takes off.
I wonder if Naughty Dog and Insomniac will ever do a cross over. Remember they both used the same building for a studio and are really close to each other company wise, thats why Ratchet and Jak games are similar. Plus Crash and Spyro.

Well they have collaborated on the technical side of things and in some of their games there has been crossover to the other, I believe Crash Team Racing and Spyro 3 each had the others demo, Ratchet and Clank Going Commando featured Jak and Daxter on a TV screen in Ratchet and Clank's apartment and Jak II had Ratchet and Clank somewhere although I can't remember where. If the finally did meet though I just hopes it doesn't run out like the crossover games for Spyro and Crash that Universal put out.

lol it would be interesting to see like a crash and spyro game in one lol i think that would actually be a pretty bad game but w/e it would be cool to see a naughty dog insomniac game

Universal kinda ruined the franchises long before that though haha. However I did not know they already somewhat crossed over like that. In a comic book style writing that proves they both exist in the same universe at the same time, so a crossover can make complete sense.
My story would be Ratchet and Clank crash landing on Jak and Daxters planet. You can play either side and it will each have a differnt story leading up to them meeting each other. Then they team up and you can switch back and forth unless they split up.

i think it woudl be an awesome game but the biggest problem would lie in the studios wanting to stuff their way with their franchise which engine to use and so on but they seem to have gotten along before

I think if any 2 studios would be able to make a compromise it would be Insomniac and Naughty Dog.
They have the most sibling like relationship I think I've ever seen

I dont think they would have development issues. Ratchets engine is widely accepted by first parties and Uncharted Engine is a bit advanced and you dont really need that for a cartoon based game. If it were a Resistance crossover id probably take Uncharted Engine. Ratchet looks absolutely amazing in the Crack in Time trailers though, like better than Pixar amazing!
I think the issue would lay at who gets what. Do they split profits 50 percent? Then why bother with it if you can just make separate games and get 100 percent? HOWEVER both seem to be in it to make games and not the money, otherwise they both would be third parties by now. Just ask Square.
I think if you split the game like i said, it allows each team to work on their parts, thus allowing the unique side of each game into one game, then when they meet each other have the teams work together somewhere. For example you have a screenwriter from both sides, they write their stories, come togehter colaberate, then get a final one done. Then come in the concept artists, they say here is jak others say here is Ratchet, they agree on a central level design and then work together on making that possible. Etc..

Naughty Dog is owned by Sony now so they cant go third party but insomniac could but like you said i think they are both in it to make games more so than money i mean they still want to make money as well lol :D but yeah it would be interesting.
Side note:
Has anyone here seen Dr. Horrible's sing along blog? it has NPH (Neil Patrick Harris) in it and Felicia Day (if you know who she is) but it is pretty interesting and was made during the writers strike but the reason i bring it up is cuz they have a "substance" in there that is called wonderflonium and when i heard that i instantly thought Ratchet cuz that kinda sounds like something that would be in a Ratchet and Clank game
