Apparently some crafty (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2009/09/14/crafty-cons-use-cell-playstations-to-charge-their-illegal-mobile-phones-86908-21672452/) criminals in Scotland have figured out a way to charge their smuggled in mobile phones, use their PlayStation 2 consoles to charge them through the use of a modified radio or hi-fi although it seems rather strange a prison is even offering PlayStation 2's in the first place, but hey apparently prisoners need their PS2 games.

I thought it was common knowledge that USB ports charge things lol. I just want to know who the first inmate was that discovered it haha. "WOH! CHARGE!!! We can still prank call people!!!!"

I think its stupid we have "rules" to how "bad" prisons or jails can be. Should they be crummy non livable places? no. At the same time it should be hell, something they dont ever want to be apart of again. No PS2. No Cell. No cable TV. nothing. Its like "ah you did something bad, come stay here at the tax payers expense, enjoy your stay, and come back soon!"

why should prisoners get a luxury lifestyle at everyone else's expenses, they did something wrong, they should pay for it
why do you think that so many return, its probably a better life than what they have outside of prison

The cell phones they have aren't provided by the prison, they smuggle them in so they can still run their crime empires from within prison, the problem is while I'm sure it's pretty easy to hide a cell phone is various places, the chargers aren't, hence why they use this "hacked" USB method otherwise that cell phone will only be good for a few days at most.
