Well we heard the news of Sony selling one million PlayStation 3's and now the press seems to be jumping on board as well with Sony. A recent (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/blogs/controller-freak/time-to-choose-playstation-3-xbox-360-or-wii/article1301609/) Globe and Mail article (major Canadian newspaper) has the writer tipping his hat to Sony on the basis that at the current price of $299.99 Canadian for the PS3 vs. the XBOX 360 costing $329.99 for the Elite the PlayStation 3 is the system to buy for anyone that isn't entertaining children or wanting non-gamers to pickup a controller due to superior hardware, such as Blu-Ray and the fact that our online play is almost equivalent to XBOX Live but for no cost. With this kind of press, the great sales news and the slew of commercials on television and the Internet Sony may well be on their way to cleaning up the Christmas gaming market floor with Microsoft and Nintendo.

Its amazing how many people said this phrase a billion times "Its easy to kick a horse when its down" and this is the case and point. Before it was non stop "Sony is in a hell hole, sony fails, sony isnt worth it, sony this or that" and every single one of us said "we will be waiting for you on our bandwagon in a year" and look where they are all at.

Before "PSN doesnt live up to live" now "PSN is better than live." Before "Blu ray isnt worth it and will never take over the market" now "You not HD till you buy Blu ray!" etc...

Along with that how many major gaming sites are now giving PS3 games good reviews? IGN jumped aboard early by giving games like Resistance amazing reviews, but before it was like one or two sites say it how it is, another couple say its a good game but nothing compared to the "competition" and the rest just gave it low scores purely based on it being on PS3. Today we see PS3 winning the third party game wars, exclusives almost always getting 9/10 reviews (hell how many sources are going crazy for uncharted 2?) and now Xbox is dragging along with sub par reviews.

Im just waiting for it to totally turn against MS and see what they do from there. I mean right now its the tipping point, sony keeps going they prevail for the rest of the generation, they slow down and fail then bam right back to the "Yeah i knew sony couldnt do it" bandwagon. So far its looking like another Sony victory, and if this generation lasts long enough mark that three dominating wins in a row. PS1 beat out nintendo, PS2 beat out Sega and MS, PS3 beats out MS again (and nintendo i guess). My guess though is if Sony keeps strong, and keeps winning like they are now, MS will push despertly for another generation to get out of it, probably release another xbox too soon or something, otherwise they are screwed.

Unfortunately, negativity sells. People never wanna hear about something good, or at least not constantly.

As this is good news and it has been hard for Sony to get any positive press recently, I just can help but think Sony may have "missed it" (too many reasons why to list) on this gen. Dustin brings up some good points. But how many titiles does the Wii have that get crappy ratings? And it has still sold over 50 million consoles. Wii has dropped it's price (now $199.00 USD) and has moved back on top of Amazon Video Game sales. The only none Wii product in the top ten is ODST. Microsoft and Sony (even with motion control) will end up playing catch up to the Wii this gen. Don't get me wrong I would love to see Sony sell 10 million consoles before Christmas but being late out of the gate and having a huge price tag hurt it early on.

The price tag was a must, Sony was the only company trying something new. MS with the same old, just pumped steroids into it and Nintendo completely said screw it and said "wth lets just put motion controls on the PS2!" Well it worked.

I see how Wii is selling though because people are always telling me (mostly older people or non-gamers) "The wii is so cool the whole family can play it! I dont like to sit there and play games on PlayStation, you should get one." Of course I explain "no PS3 is more than that" yatta yatta, but another casual gamers hears them talking and then its "omg thats so cool!"

Then you say "jump into next gen for only 200 bucks" and make its a gimmick by making stock low and you win. Sony would be very smart to fake shortages in the Fall.

I just wonder though, when sony gets their motion controllers and games are then being ported from Wii to PS3 what will happen. Of course nintendo games cant be, but thats pretty much Mario and Zelda. Then MS kinda avoiding it but jumping in with Natal, who knows what will happen. Imagine the "now on PS3 and Wii" instead of "now on PS3 and 360" comercials.
