Displaying my status

hi, for some of my friends on my psn i have noticed a small controller icon, and it displays the game that they play inside the gray box. but for me it's just display my name. how do i activate this option?
i hope u guys get what i am trying to say ?

I`m not sure but I think you`re referring to when you look at your own name in the friendlist on xmb when playing a game? And if you are I don`t think you can see what you yourself are playing, it will just be a empty spot there. I may be wrong though.

Don't worry your friends are seeing what you are playing, your XMB though won't show it since it's assumed you know what you're playing, hence you don't need a reminder in your XMB Friends list under your name just to tell you.
