Are you a Mac user?

As some of you may know, I work for Apple Canada as the Montreal Rep for their Educational Program.

How many of you guys have ever used mac? Are you a current mac user?

If you haven't ever used mac, why haven't you tried it?

I currently own a 20" iMac ... 2.4 Ghz Intel Dual Core, 4GB ram with 250 GB HDD & also own a Aluminium Macbook 13.3", 2.0 Ghz with 2GB ram and 160GB HDD!

I have to convert all of you to mac :P

Haven't used one before. :( I want one though. I'll get one one day, they're just a little expensive right now.

Also, I have a question: Why are Mac's recommended to digital artists and to people who do a lot of video/photo editing? Always wondered, never asked. ^^;

The reason why they're better is because of the OS. The way it's built, the way things run are much more animated first of all and most of these apps are built to work on macs. Photoshop, Illustrator are simply so much more stable on the Mac OSX platform.

Users buy mac simply because of its stability, design and uniqueness. Mac has one of the most innovative products out there and when you take in consideration that there are no installations required (first boot when buying pc takes 25 min these days), no driver updates + installations, it just makes sense to purchase it.

Think of a system that when you buy it, all you have to do on first load in is the following:

- Turn on
- Set your username, profile pic and register your product.
- The OS automatically loads with a bunch of software preinstalled:
- iLife '09 is preinstalled for FREE .. so basically you get iMove, iPhoto, iDVD, iWeb and Garage Band!

It's also advertised as a "no-virus" system. Of course there are some viruses out there for Mac, however the chances of them actually attacking you are very slim.

I can keep on talking for 20 min.. but I'll shut it now :P

If you're a student, you get a $100 discount and during the back-to-school period in the fall, you usually get iPod touch free (students only).

Yes I have a Mac. I love it. Because of the incident with my last desk top Mac I got a brand new 20'' with Leopard for free. I was a very happy camper.

Well, when I was looking for a new laptop, there were a few things that kept me from getting a mac. I do like them, but they were a lot more expensive than what I was looking to pay. For the most part, they just didn't fit my needs at the time.

They're good, the price is just a bit steep for what you actually get.

I'm a Mac user, my Macbook is currently in the hands of Apple Technicians. Way to go when the plate starts to crack. I'm not really that happy with my Macbook, I've got the previous generation of Macbooks.

What really appeals to me are iMacs and the new Macbooks.

I'm also a PC user, the best for PC gaming.

Not a Mac user but do have an iphone. I always stop and check out Mac's at the Apple store. I think I will soon convert. Since you work at Apple did they (Apple) resolve the issue people were complianing about with the 20"mac screen? I do believe there was even a class action lawsuit.

I can't stand being grouped with all those smug Apple users who are all the same and justify there overpriced computer purchase with, it can't get viruses, if you only have 10% of the market of course you won't get viruses, it's not profitable to make one. The day it is I'm just going to be able to laugh at all of them and say, you asked for it. That and just the price factor, why would I spend hundreds more on a computer with the same specs just to get the operating system, I'll take that money and either save it or put it towards an even better computer. Windows works perfectly as long as you aren't stupid and you can do more with it.

I would love to get a Mac someday, but like some others say, they are way too much money right now. Until then I think I'll stick with my Vista PC.

By the way, I believe Macs actually can get viruses, it's just that less people know how to create them. I've seen some Mac viruses though.
