So sauberbmw a buddy of mine wants to buy a ps3 after basically borrowing mine forever. Which model should he get. And i also heard that the newer made ps3's cant play ps2 roms because it lacks something in its hardware. Do you know if this is true?

All of the new PS3's made after the 40Gb does not have PS2 backwards compatibility, but they do have PS1 playability. I think that he should get the 80GB MGS4 bundle, or the 60GB if he can still find it. Otherwise, just get the 160GB one that just came out.

first of all, does your buddy want to play his old ps2/ps1 titles on it?

2nd, the old 80 gigs used software to play ps2/ps1 titles while the 60 gb versions used hardware. the only difference is that the 80gb was cheaper than the 60gb and the GD was getting "yelled" at by head office.

so tell me what your buddy wants to do with the system and ill point you in the right direction
