Help
The last time I played a game I forgot to take out the disc when I turned it off. Today I turned the system on and everything was fine for about 5 minutes, then the system turned off by itself. When I went to try and get the disc out it would not let me. Nor after holding down the button would it turn back on. I can hear the system begin to start up the red light comes on then three beeps light flashes red and system turns off. I have let the system cool and it was only on for about 5 minutes to begin with. It is the original PS3 and I have it where it gets plenty of air circulation Can anyone please help me

Sounds like YLOD. A few options you've got. You can try calling Sony, but they will charge you ~$150 for a refurbished console and you'll lose all of your saves, but they should send you the game back later.
Or you can open up the console, get the disc out manually, and try and use gilsky's YLOD fix tutorial. If it doesn't work, you should still be able to pay Sony to fix it. Or you can take it to a third party repairer close to you, who might be able to fix the console for you, and you will be able to keep your data. But make sure you backup up asap after. |
