NetFlix and Sonys Movie Store

What do you think will happen now that Netflix is on PS3?

I dont thin much will happen because Netflix streaming isnt that good yet, they dont offer new movies like PS3 service does. However it has room to grow. And the good thing is unlike Xbox, Sony movies are offered for PS3.

However Netflix beats PS3 store when it comes to rentals. You pay 8 bucks a month or you pay 3 to 5 bucks per movie to rent it. Then to buy it its 10 to 20 bucks. To me thats just outragous prices and explains why ive never used the service to be honest. Im thinking of possibly doing the netflix thing but not quite sure yet.

However I was thinking, id actually pay 8 to 10 bucks for a subscription based service on the PSN store. rent movies and stream them freely whenever I want.

Well is it netflix on a PS3 or on a Blu-ray disc? We've been laughing at the 360 guys for having to change discs on the upcoming Rage title and Forza 3 but here we go and have to insert a disc to get Netflix. I expect some flak from the 360 fanboys on this one.

Its just a disc until 2010. Netflix still has a deal with MS and that was the quickest way around it, they found a loophole in it.

So it's a contract issue. Does this disc only work on the PS3 or any blu-ray player?

Pretty sure Blu ray players could already access it somehow. Along with Bravia TV's. I dont own either so im not sure how they get to it.

Several TV's can access NetFlix, I think LG was the first, Sony came soon after and some Blu-Ray players can as well, Samsung has a few and so does LG, even Insignia has one and if you can deal with the brand, you can get a Netflix capable model for $99.

I've been using Netflix streaming through the PS3 for quite a while now, using the PlayOn media server. Having it "officially" will bring additional users of the service, which is great. Even with the PSN video store up, Netflix is very useful, because of the flat monthly fee vs the PSN pay-per-view structure. Plus, with Netflix, there are a bunch of older TV shows and movies that you just don't get through PSN.

It's a good deal for everyone, and it provides official Netflix access beyond the 360.
