changes in Xbox live terms of service

I found an articleon Gamespot where Microsoft is now allowing users to use words in their Gamertag that reference their sexual orientation.
Only the words "lesbian," "gay," "bi," "transgender," or "straight" are allowed tp be used. no discriminatory terms are allowed to be used though.
personally, I don't think its a very good idea.
say someone uses one of those words in their gamertag, that is just another reason for someone who is against these sexual orientations to make fun of them.
discuss

Very true, I can definitely see that happening, especially when the XBL community is so young (or just very immature).

Makes sense lol. I mean, not allowing gay in your username is discriminating against homosexuals in my opinion. It's like saying gay is a bad word and being gay is wrong. Homophobia FTL? mhm.

The cons of this is that many people are going to be stupid and make usernames like Gaypwner, TransgenderNoob etc. Ahh, society... how it annoys me.

yeah it does make sense, as long as people do be reasonable and not make stupid usernames.
I guess that's why they decided to change it, to not be discriminatory, maybe they're planning some ways to deal with people who make fun of gay people
