Mafia II

Anybody else really excited about this game?

I just finished watching some gameplay (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-mafia-ii/52913) and it looks AMAZING.

Without a HUD, the game looks very realistic, and, as he's driving down the streets, everything looks so detailed! If the game lives up to what this demo promises, I think it could match GTA IV's level of open-world awesomeness.

What do you think?

I'm pretty sure the story of Mafia II is completely unrelated to the plot of the first one, with a different time period and location, so you won't have to worry if you haven't played the first one.

Did you enjoy similar games, like GTA IV, or Saints Row? I think both of these will prove to be quite similar to Mafia II (though I do feel that Mafia II is a little more subtle and sophisticated than those games)

Agreed. Something that always amazed me, when playing GTA IV, were the hands: they looked so unrealistic, and subsequently very out of place.

I really like the setting and time period for this game, I've kinda had my fill of gta style games though.

I'll keep an eye on it but outside of admiring the scenery I think Ill have to pass at the moment.

I see what you mean - it's getting tiring to see so many other developers copy GTA's gameplay.
