Windows 7 draining battery life?

okay, I have this problem with Windows 7 on my laptop that i didn't have when I had Windows XP on it.
whenever I use my battery on my laptop instead of plugging it in, it will tell me I still have a good amount of life on my battery and then the battery will die on me, and I find that it drains my battery faster then when I had Xp on it
has any other Windows 7 on a laptop have similar problems to this?

Windows 7 is actually supposed to be more efficient like XP was. If it is draining your battery faster, make sure its not set to performance mode or anything and keep it on medium to lower settings. If you are running off a battery there is no need to have high performance all the time, only when its plugged in.

My toshiba is running great with 7, but its also new. Lasts over 8 hours with 7. Only issue yours could be other than performance is it its a slightly older computer, so the battery is worn from use and charging. Dont keep the charging plugged in alot and dont over charge it too often.

I dont know what computer you have so i dont know how long its supposed to last.

I know this is an old thread, so sorry for bumping it but apparently I just need to get my school to give me a new battery and that will solve my problem
