I'm trying to play my ps3 on my cpu monitor.

This is my monitor:

According to this, it's HDCP complaint

& this is the cable I need right?

http://www.amazon.com/DVI-HDMI-Cable.../dp/B0002CZHN6

So if I connect it, it should have sound right?

So I have everything correct? I want to make sure because I'm probably going to buy the cable today.

Yeah you should. That will just hook up to your HDMI on your PS3 and work. If I were you id have the audio still go to your tv or some other source unless you have speakers hooked up to your monitor, cus the monitor is super quiet (as you may know).

I just bought the cord haha

I have speakers connected to my cpu. (:

I'm trying to buy it but my mom wants to go look around stores.

Was it only just $1.34? Haha

Technically that's not possible since a CPU stands for Central Processing Unit or what most of us call it the processor, you can't directly link your speakers to the processor, it's directly attached to your motherboard. Now I'm guessing you mean your speakers are actually attached to your computer which still doesn't help you, your speakers won't output sound from the PlayStation 3 unless you connect them to the PlayStation 3, the monitor can't act as a passthrough for the audio signal.

That being said to get back more on topic, if you mom's definition of going to stores means a trip to Best Buy, well then they have such a cable although it's a lot more expensive, to the tune of $49.99. Radioshack is even worse, they want $54.99 or $99.99 if you want the "good" Monster cable.

Target isn't as bad for such a cable, it's only $29.99 and a quick search on Walmart.com reveals all their cheaper cables which still cost roughly 15 times as much as the Amazon cable aren't available in retail Wal-Mart stores, you have to order the cable online, same as Amazon so again Amazon is a steal of a deal, I mean you can order a 6 foot HDMI cable with it for less than $5.

Just for kicks I wanted to see how much such a cable costs on Amazon.ca, it's $4.99 but it can't be counted towards free shipping, same as the one at Amazon.com.

Anyway if you're really want it sooner than later, show your mom all of the above listings and say that's what retail stores might have, since obviously they might even be out of stock on these items in your area and say Amamzon is cheaper by far, is safe to use, they handle the entire transaction because in this case Amazon themselves aren't selling the cable, it's one of their third party sellers but regardless the other company will never even see the provided credit card information and they ship straight to your house but do count in for the fact after shipping the cable won't cost just $1.34 but it will still be less than every other major store in the U.S I can think of that would sell such a cable.

Personally I already have placed two orders with their Canadian counterpart and I've had my account less than 2 months because it's easy and they have a lot more selection and better pricing than any retail store.

To answer the first question, with shipping it came out to 4 bucks. Considering your not gonna find those things for less than 30 at ANY store its like stealing candy from a baby...

Like stated if your mom doesnt trust online transactions like most people, Amazon is the biggest and most safest place you can buy stuff from. I use to sell on Amazon, and not once did I ever see the credit info or who exactly was buying it. Amazon just says "here is your money, ship it here" and your done, unless you have any direct interactions with them. If the product doesnt work, you contact Amazon and they WILL fix the problem for you (shipping, broken, not right one etc..) Ive had an account going on 2 years, this past year Ive hadprime.
