inFamous sells 185K copies

So in it's first 2 weeks its sold about 185,000 copies, doesnt look like a bad start
for a new IP, but then again I am not sure what qualifies as a good number
as far as sales go.

Good job whoever supported the game with a day 1 purchase

No Killzone sold like 370,000 units in its first weekend. It had a lot of pre-orders though. I bought the game and love it.

For those of you who don't know 185000 is very decent for a new IP for its first 2 weeks

Dustin, I expected more from you... Atari? lol

Anyways, yea, InFamous did alright considering it's a new IP and went on sale in kinda an off period. Although you can't ignore that it was a pretty hyped up exclusive game. It's the best selling PS3 exclusive new IP thus far, though the userbase is, of course, considerably more massive now than ever before.

For reference, some first week sales of other new(and relatively hyped) IPs this generation. I grouped PS3 timed/exclusives, then 360 timed/exclusives, then multiplat(only counting PS3 numbers), all numbers are US sales:

-InFamous(2009) - 116K

-Resistance(2006) - 42K
-Motorstorm(2007) - 107K
-Warhawk(2007) - 70K(not including downloads)
-Lair(2007) - 69K
-Heavenly Sword(2007) - 75K
-Uncharted(2007) - 32K(WTF?)
-Haze(2008) - 91K
-LittleBigPlanet(2008) - 110K

-Gears of War(2006) - 606K
-Crackdown(2007) - 329K
-Lost Planet(2007) - 250K
-Bioshock(2007) - 409K
-Mass Effect(2007) - 209K
-Lost Odyssey(2007) - 101K
-Left 4 Dead(2008) - 309K

-Assassin's Creed(2007) - 256K
-Army of Two(2007) - 89K
-Dead Space(2008) - 104K
-Mirror's Edge(2008) - 26K

I guess this goes to show why Sony always gets all sorts of **** about how they can't market their new IPs at all.

Wow, looks like I'll be eating a bit of crow, inFamous did a lot better than I anticipated and VGChartz predicted... The game sold 176K first week in the US alone, so it's likely it debuted worldwide at 200K++.

Sony actually marketed InFamous. I cant watch tv at all in the evening without seeing an Infamous trailer and i see one during every game related event period. I even saw a couple during the stanley cup....See Sony, if you take the time to market crap you will sell stuff, geez. Lets hope Heavy rain and all the other exclusives this year get the same treatment, if not i dont know what to say to Sony. Maybe they just dont want to bother trying.

Infamous hit the media kinda late compared to other franchises... the game was barely advertised less than a month ago, virtually unheard of by the general populace 3 months ago... strange way to run marketing campaigns if you asked me.

thats what makes this success even more surprising
