40 vs 80 gb Q

I am still looking around for a PS3. I have heard of a rumor about an 80 coming out in early June that will have some extras with it. Anyways, my question, I live out in the county where DSL is rediculously expensive. So, I will NOT be using the online features at home. Is 1 model better or worse than the other if I am strictly using this for game play?

My sons still play the ps2, so I have considered getting an 80 to kkep from having 3 systems at the house for no reason, but I am trying to weigh all my options with this.

all PS3 models have wi-fi except the 20 GB model......if your looking for the cheapest, get the 40 GB, if you want a well equipped PS3 pick the 60 GB or 80 GB model but with higher price.....

Well, I will probably getting the 80gb especially if the rumore of the system rumble controller etc is true. I am not gonna be playing online any at all, so that was my concern. I am getting this more for me considering the PS3 doesn't have many games catered to children. The Wii is fun, but def. mnore oriented towards the kids.

Wait and get the MGS4 80Gb Pack.

also, 40Gbs have been known to fail more than other models, as they use a different blu-ray laser.

if you just want something for to play on and not wanting to have all the extra features like rumble, (then again your sons have a ps2, there probably going to want t play there ps2 games on ps3 so just wait for the 80 mgs4 bundle ,
i say get the 80 because the 40 doesn't support ps2 games)

It doesn't really matter

It doesn't really matter if you have the 40 gb ps3 or 80 gb because you can always boost your memory just by putting a new hardrive it is pretty simple you need the right equipement.

it depens

it depends on how you use memory in your ps3 there is no use of buying a 80 gb that you will not use online if so I would say to you buy the 80 gb like that you will have room for download things online.

If you want more memory and rumble, get the 80GB (MGS4 bundle) This is the last PS3 to have PS2 backwards compatibility.

Yeah, the MGS4 bundle is discontinued (stupid in my opinion) but you can find it on eBay or Amazon.

Yeah, that's the 160GB bundle. That has no backwards compatibility.

Dont look for backwards the only way you'll most likely get your hands on one that has BC is a friend or if they release the software version that they have been using with the older 80's in a firmware update.

I think that they should release the software. They could charge like 50 bucks for it.

Is it possible to get a cheaper ps3 such as the 40gb and then merely just upgrading the HDD? Would that be equivalent to other larger HDD such as the 80gb?

Well hotfiyah, they don't make the 40GB anymore, so the only choice you have is the 80GB Core, or the 160GB with Uncharted.

Both Systems are the same right? Except One comes with uncharted and a larger HDD right? Can you just purchase the 80gb and upgrade it?

yeah but every new version of the ps3 that comes out is better in a sense that, sony learns new ways of utilizing the cells full potential.(if you remember there was one cell in the ps3 that was useless) they probably add more things on the bigger versions to...more bang for your buck
