Although Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 is still a ways away from launch, producer Jun Takeuchi has stated that a playable demo of RE5 may be hitting the PSN sooner than we think. In addition, he confirmed that DLC is a possibility, but understandably would not give a definite answer.
After the cries of outrage at Devil May Cry 4’s mandatory (and long) install, you’ll be glad to know that Capcom has listened to you and opted not to include a mandatory install to the HDD in RE5. While it’s likely the option will be there for those who prefer to suffer through the install in exchange for shorter load times, he said that the number of user complaints had driven them to work hard at making it possible to play RE5 straight from the disk: “We’re still working on those technical elements in the last couple of months, but we can tell you that if users are dissatisfied with that kind of thing, then it’s certainly something we keep in mind when we develop. We’ll do our best to come up with something that users will not criticize, but love.”
This is great news for those PS3 users that are quickly running out of HDD space. Hopefully more devs take a cue from Capcom, and put in the work to eliminate the necessity of HDD installs. |
