Resident Evil 5 is one of my anticipated titles coming out very soon and there has been a lot of controversy surrounding it. Instead of the usual video game violence problems, Resident Evil has been facing something new....Racism. When an early trailer depicted the main characters killing African looking zombies many people fretted over rather or not it was racist. Even with the game killing other races over the years, including Spanish people in Spain, the question still remained till this day what would happen.
Well some good news came today as the UK ratings body namely BBFC has stated the game is not racist at all. Stating “As the whole game is set in Africa it is hardly surprising that some of the characters are black, just like the fact that some of the characters in an earlier version were Spanish as the game was set in Spain.”
We now have the developers, the fans, and ratings boards supporting the decision. Rather or not you think the game is racist is up to you, but i'm just happy ill be getting my Resident Evil 5 here in a few weeks!
