Ever since Resident Evil 5 was announced, fingers were pointed at Capcom for being racist. Series producer Jun Takeuchi recently spoke on the matter, however, and insisted that Resident Evil 5 is not racist.
"If people were to make [a purposely racist] type of game, that would not be a good thing... We were just making the game in a natural progression," Takeuchi says, explaining, "It had previously been mentioned in Code Veronica as being the origin of the virus. I wonder what people expected us to do."
Further, he reveals that Capcom was quite shocked when allegations first arose that they were racist, wondering if it was just unfounded sensationalism or not. "People in Spain didn't complain about Resident Evil 4... I wonder if people in Africa are actually upset or not about Resident Evil 5" Takeuchi pondered.
Resident Evil 5 is a survival horror title, developed by Capcom. The latest entry in the popular franchise, Resident Evil 5 is due out March 13, for the PS3 and XBox 360. |
