4 years in the making, the highly anticipated Killzone 2 finally made its way to the hands of gamers just shy of two weeks ago. And even in spite of the negative hype and controversy the plagues the title to this day, the PS3 exclusive shooter has been very well received critically. Garnering praise for it's graphic fidelity and deep multiplayer experience, Killzone 2 is averaging 92% on MetaCritic, and scored a 9.6 from ourselves.
Killzone 2's amazing critical reception is paralleled by it's commercial reception as well. On retail shelves for just about 2 weeks, the PS3 exclusive has now sold over 1 million copies. On the opening weekend, Killzone 2 went on to sell about 700,000 copies in North America and Europe. Over the course of the next week, it went on to sell another 300,000 copies, which represents a drop off of about 50% - a pretty decent showing considering the title was launched in a non-holiday period. In total, the game has sold about 1.05 million copies thus far. With it's Japanese release coming next month, the title should manage to stay on the charts for a while.
Killzone 2 is a first person shooter, developed by Guerilla Games. The highly anticipated title went on sale on February 27. Check out our review for Killzone 2 here. |
