The debut trailer of God of War III showed Kratos fighting legions of enemies from the back of a Titan. The whole thing looked massive and impressive, but would the actual game be able to accomplish that? Apparently, it does. In the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, God of War III director Stig Asmussen fills us in on just how epic the scale of God of War III is.
The God of War franchise has had some pretty big set pieces. However, this time, Stig says, "it's not some crafty Hollywood-style tricks, we're doing it for real". Kratos will be fighting on the back of a character whos climbing up a mountain, all in-real time. To give us a comparison, Asmussen revealed that a single level from God of War I or II could 'fit in the palm of a Titan's hand" in God of War III.
Lead programmer Vassily Filppov claims a feat of this magnitude is only possible on the PS3. "Everything to do with Titan gameplay is only possible because of the power of the SPU processors. It wouldn't be possible without them, we just couldn't pull it off otherwise... no way".
