We know by now that the PS3 is coming into its own and getting better each day. What you may not know is that the PS3 has recently had its biggest increase this past month. According to sales figures, Sony has sold 276,000 units in the United States alone, the biggest sales increase of any of the three current generation consoles.
Sony's Peter Dille had this to say: "“We have no doubt this game will deliver a next gen experience and will be responsible for driving hardware sales throughout the year. 2009 promises to be another record year for the Playstation brand."
But what does he think will be the driving force behind sales this year? Killzone 2.
Speaking in response to February’s NPD hardware figures, Dille stated that "In February, we had a tremendous kickstart to what promises to be another record year for the PlayStation brand with the launch of mega blockbuster hit Killzone 2, which ranked in the top 5 with only two days of sales in February and has been garnering extraordinary reviews, and a noteworthy 92 Metacritic score,” also adding that Sony expects the Guerrilla Games' blockbuster to drive hardware sales throughout the year.
