Well, the cat is out of the bag! After months of being teased with gorgeous screenshots and trailers of Uncharted 2, the first gameplay footage has finally surfaced on the web! Be warned, it’s camcorder footage, so the video quality isn’t the best, but what we can see of the game looks absolutely stunning.

Over two years since its release, Uncharted 1 still ranks among the best looking videogames ever and Among Thieves is raising that bar even further. Lighting effects are spectacular, looking extremely natural. Models are nice and crisp, covered in detailed textures, though the blurred video seems to distort some of them. Then we get to the animations: Drake’s movements are silky smooth, trumping those in even Killzone 2. Enemy hit response is appropriately solid, providing realistic feedback to bullets. On the gameplay side of things, Drake can now slide into cover for quick refuge from a firefight and has a few new climbing moves up his sleeve.

Among Thieves is still a while from release, but from what we can see here the game is going to be a stellar follow-up to the original. Here’s the link to the video, don’t forget to watch in high quality: Uncharted 2 Video
