Environmentally friendly electronics are a big deal now a days. With groups like Greenpeace and the like sniffing around, anything that gets labeled as “Green” will sell a few extra units by tempting those who care about our environment. The thing is, most electronics now a days have a tendency to.. well, waste. But would you rather waste a lot, or waste very little? That is the question.
According to Greenpeace's eleventh Guide to Greener Electronics, (PDF Format) Sony is well ahead of it's competitors, at least in the console race. Sony products are apparently 50% “greener” than Nintendo's, and roughly 40% more environmentally friendly than those from Microsoft.
Sony has seemingly gained points in this race for “the energy efficiency of its products..”
Microsoft on the other hand (sitting at 2.8 on the Green-O-Scale) has been dropping in the ranks year after rear for “failing to clarify how its recycled data is calculated.”
And let's not even get started on the Nintendo.
Bottom line, if you're a tree hugger, the Playstation 3 is for you. Now it's time for me to go plant some flowers, coincidence? I think not.
