Proving once again that the video game industry is growing and is becoming more than "just for kids," Developer Bethesda has decided to take its marquee fanchise, Fallout and do something truly unique and never attempted: shatter the barriers dividing video gaming from other forms of media.
A recent trademark filing by Bethesda has indicated that the publisher may be looking to expand its post-apocalyptic series Fallout into TV and Film.
The filing, made back in February this year, pertains to "Entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program” in addition to "motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."
Nothing has been officially confirmed, but this indicates that Bethesda as a company is willing to take risks that many others are not, both in terms of television and in a larger sense, it also seeks to challenge peoples comfort levels, as anyone who has played Fallout 3 can attest, at times it gets EXTREMELY uncomfortable.
Kudos for turning things on their head. This will be very interesting. Stay tuned.
