Many PS3 gamers absolutely hate the fact that Valve is completely avoiding the PS3 with their games. EA is not even making the ports anymore, and while The Orange Box wasn’t the greatest, it was still enjoyable for Half Life Fans. While many PS3 gamers are supporting a gaming wide boycott of their games on PC or not, things could actually be turning around.
"up on the idea" of developing for the PS3 -- it's just waiting until it has hired some decent PS3 coders. " said Doug Lombardi in an interview with Joystiq.
He states that the lack of PS3 support is due to the low scores the PS3 version of the Orange Box received compared to the 360 and PC versions. However he does state that Valve is currently looking to build a dedicated team for PS3 ports.
"we have to get people under our roof who are dedicated, talented PS3 guys and then all bets are off. We can take the same sort of strides and get the quality out of the box and offer the same support post-launch on that platform, as well."
That’s at least nice to hear, but what is taking so long. PS3 gamers have been longing for a L4D game for ages now, so maybe L4D 3 will make its way to PS3 sometime? Either way that’s somewhat good news for PS3 fans as they can start enjoying Valve games sometime in the future, if they want.
