And from the: What ever happened to? files, it appears as though we will be getting another Resident Evil flick, this time in 3D and meant to be a rebooting of the franchise. And yes Paul W.S. Anderson is onboard.
Speaking to website ShockTillYouDrop.com, Anderson stated that he will be directing the flick in addition to confirming the return of actress Milla Jovovich as feisty undead slayer Alice.
“I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films," he said. And we've been very lucky where it's a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I'm really excited we're doing it [in 3-D] and we're using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."
No major details on plot yet but apparently thre will be characters from the RE universe making an appearance as well as some old favorites
Resident Evil: Afterlife is currently pencilled in for release on September 17, 2010 (see good things happen on my b-day!)
