The creators of the hit game Guitar Hero are working on something entirely new with the help of Electronic Arts as well as MTV as they today revealed a brand new game for the Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 next-generation consoles, Rock Band.

Rock Band involved EMI Music Publishing as well as Warner/Chappell Music and other music groups to bring licensed and high-profile music to Rock band.

The game will be a four-player experience where players will each have to take on a roll in the band.  One will have to be the singer, one will be the drummer, one the bassist, and the other playing the guitar and jamming out until their heart is content.

The game will ship with four accessories, a microphone, a bass, a drum kit, as well as a guitar.  If they doesn’t get you excited right there then nothing will as the creators of Guitar Hero are going all out and also promising an extensive online plan so that players will be able to play in their bands even if they are all not in the same room at the same time.

The press release from Harmonix stated that "Harmonix was founded to create new ways for everyone to experience the pleasure and satisfaction that comes from playing music. Our work on Guitar Hero was an instrumental step toward that goal," stated Alex Rigopulos, co-founder and CEO of Harmonix. "But Rock Band is Harmonix’s most ambitious project to date, and it will take music gameplay to an entirely new level. MTV has given us the freedom and the resources to really swing for the fences and make the game we’ve always wanted to make."

"The team at EA Partners is thrilled to help MTV and Harmonix launch this incredible game on the global stage and get into the hands of gamers worldwide."

There have been no confirmation as to a song list to this point nor has there been any word on a price point but the game will be ready to ship out this holiday season as the creators of Guitar Hero, Harmonix, appear to be ready to kill their own creation with something that could rock the entire gaming industry.  This game sounds and is looking absolutely incredible so stay tuned for much more on this one.
