After E3 this year, PlayStation fans were going crazy over the new motion control peripherals. With sub-millimeter accuracy, the PS3 motion controllers demonstrated everything we should have expected from motion controllers from the start. The thing is, it seems as if the fans weren't the only ones being swooned by the lovely looking addition to our favorite black box.
David Cage, founder of Quantic Dream thinks the motion control peripherals will bring a lot to the table for the PlayStation 3, and hopes to see support for motion control added into Heavy Rain somewhere down the line.
"[Motion sensing technology] may work well with Heavy Rain because Heavy Rain is based on motion already. The way we deal with action sequences, really trying to use the controller as much as possible to make you feel the same moves of your character at the same time. So yeah I feel close to that," said Cage. "At the same time it really depends on how you use it. You can do very different things with motion control. You just need to be careful about how you do things. Do I believe that every single game will be motion control and it's going to replace regular controllers in the future? No I don't think so. I think it's going to work well for certain experiences and people will enjoy some games with that. I don't think it's going to overwhelm the market and all games will be like that."
When asked directly about Heavy Rain supporting the motion control Cage replied, "not at the release date," but concluded that in the future, "who knows".
The future looks bright for this one folks, so keep your fingers crossed. Heavy Rain is scheduled for release in early 2010. |
