Most of the world knows by now that Disney and Marvel recently made one of the biggest mergers in history. Disney buying out Marvel for 4 billion dollars and now having rights to do anything they want with half of the comic universe. Did we honestly think WB, the owners of DC Comics, would sit there and watch it happen? Nope.
With that in mind WB finally countered by opening DC Entertainment, even though they have been owners of the thriving DC Universe for ages now. Led by Diane Nelson, the person overseeing Harry Potter, and no longer Paul Levitz (former President of DC Comics). Instead he will be back to writer/editor job. WB stated that the new branch will bring feature films, television, interactive entertainment, direct-to-consumer platforms and consumer products, pretty much everything DC is doing already. Hopefully this does mean WB will be pushing more feature films out the door other than Batman and Superman though, they do have the better stories elsewhere.
Its noted that the change is mostly due to the high sales and respect Batman Arkham Asylum has been recieving since its launch. However Im just happy to see WB finally realize the piggy bank DC has sitting there for them over all these years. Cheers to hoping more DC movies and characters finally hit the spot light! And if they do, thank you Disney for waking up WB.
