The original Uncharted featured a single player adventure that can be compared only to a Hollywood summer blockbuster, so coming up with a multiplayer component that matched that experience was obviously a daunting task that Naughty Dog was faced with. And despite having not produced a multiplayer game in 4 years, since the release of Jak X: Combat Racing in 2005, Uncharted 2 managed to come together extremely well, so well that it in fact "surprised even some people at [Naughty Dog studios]".
"We took the core move set of Nathan Drake, gave the player the ability to wear the bodies of the characters in the game, plopped them down in block-mesh models, you would climb around and shoot your buddies.", revealed Richard Lemarchand, co-designer of Uncharted 2. "It was immediately so compelling we knew we had a winner."
"[The multiplayer] is a big part of what makes Uncharted 2 the best value for entertainment this holiday season.", Lemarchand maintained, and after getting our hands on the early multiplayer demo, we aren't ones to disagree.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is due October 13, exclusively for the PS3. |
