If you ever wondered what became of Altair at the end of the original Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft will be addressing that issue in the new PSP title, Bloodlines, out the same day as Assassin's Creed II. As you know there was a LOT of feedback from the original game, everything from the fact that a much vaunted assassin couldn't, apparently, swim, to the repitition of tasks that made up the bulk of your missions. One key bit of feedback was that people wanted to play more as Altair and less as Desmond. And so, with Bloodlines, you also have a more open mission structure as well.
The controls, thankfully will be similar to the console game, with the d pad being used to select various weapons, and x being used in conjunction with the left analog stick for parkour. And, in a move that makes me happy, your ability to swan dive from great heights into bales of hay is intact. The three games tie into each other as well, so picking them up to get the full story is, to me at least, mandatory.
Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is coming out this year on November 17th.
