Naughty Dog's highly anticipated PS3 exclusive, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, went on sale worldwide this week and early retail reports already suggest it's enjoying some tremendous success at retail. Preliminary Japanese sales data for the game's first day of sales is in, suggesting the title sold 46,000 copies in it's opener. While that number may seem a bit low, that's extremely good for a Western game. Total sales for the week should end up in the 60,000 - 70,000 range. This is right on with the predictions of many Japanese sales trackers, which expected it to shift between 50,000 and 100,000 units opening week.
For comparison, the original Uncharted sold roughly 7,300 copies it's opening day, marking a 530% increase. The recently released Halo 3: ODST sold about 30,000 copies it's first week. |
