Back in the summer, we brought you word that L.A. Noire was still alive, well, according to Rockstar at least.  During a behind closed doors session at Cologne, the UK based publisher was tight lipped about the whole project, only trying to dispell rumors that it had been canceled.

Well, it seems like the project has hit another milestone.  According to numerous different twitter accounts, Rockstar held auditions earlier today for both voice acting and motion capture.  In addition to that, character descriptions for several of the characters were also provided by RockStar to help performers get into character.  The descriptions flesh out a good deal of what to expect from the game, so beware of spoilers before checking that out.

"Just auditioned for LA Noire video game. Pretty cool idea." said Angelito Fajardo.

"Just auditioned for an upcoming game from @RockstarGames called LA Noir, hope I book it!" Beau Ryan tweeted.

"Audition today; motion capture and voice for a NEW ROCKSTAR GAME." Ken Lally mentioned, revealing that the audition was for both voice and motion capture.

"At an audition for a new video game from Rockstar. It's set in LA & film noir. Lots of fedoras in this waiting room. LOTS" revealed CurtisAndersen.  Sounds like everyone was dressed for the part, 40's-ish?

With voice and motion capture going on, perhaps the game is further along than we anticipated?  L.A. Noire was originally revealed as a PS3 exclusive, but during their 2007 fiscal reports, Take Two specifically mentioned it was being developed for multiple platforms.  The title was due for a 2009 release, so perhaps we'll see it sometime next year?
