The Sky TV service launched exclusively on the Xbox 360 console this week, but it seems this exclusivity will not last in a similar way to the Netflix exclusivity. Paidcontent and C21 Media are claiming that Sky released a 277 page public document and accidentally left the following footnote uncovered:
“The deal to provide Sky’s channels on the PS3 platform has not yet been made public and is confidential to Sky.”
You can view the document here, but unfortunately it seems like Sky realized their error and deleted this line.
There are still snippets of information suggesting that the service will make it to the PS3 and possibly the Wii console as well. For example, footnote 53 (which is where the above quote has been deleted from):
"Sky’s premium channels will also be available on [CONFIDENTIAL] the Xbox 360 [CONFIDENTIAL] in the near-future. [CONFIDENTIAL]."
Page 161: "The channels will also soon be available via [CONFIDENTIAL] the Xbox360 [CONFIDENTIAL] via the internet."
Page 178: "They are also likely shortly to become available via the [CONFIDENTIAL] Xbox 360 platform [CONFIDENTIAL]."
So whilst it is unclear whether the service will be coming to the PS3 yet, although personally I believe it will, it is definitely not going to be exclusive for very long. |
