Hot off the heels of the $100 price cut and the release of the slimmed down 120GB PS3, Sony's next gen console took home first place in retail last month. For the first time ever in North America, the PS3 outsold the Wii and XBox 360, shifting 491,000 units for September.
It seems like demand for Sony's console remains consistent in October, according to GameStop at least. Speaking with IndustryGamers, GameStop's VP of Marketing and Merchandising Tony Bartel said they are still seeing a high demand for the console.
"We continue to see the [price drop] giving strong momentum to PS3. Obviously we had a strong surge when they initially dropped the price, and there was a lot of excitement around that, but we still see PS3 sales as very strong through October as well," Bartel revealed.
We'll get a much better picture when the NPD Group releases their October sales data later this month. |
